> WTF? Is this all we have to do is bash each other keep it off the list

                                                                     I
sincerely believe that this issue is important for the future of
etree.org. And if I'm not mistaken, no flames, bashings or hate'in is
going on - just some clarification/brainstorming/identification of who we
are as a group.

Granted, Floyd is a great band, and 'liberating bootlegs' is a good thing.
I'd hate to see someone go onto ebay to pay money for bootlegs. But the
last thing we need is Roger Waters, or his lawyers, demand the shut-down
of our organization because someone monitoring our mailing list tipped
them off.

The quiz thing is a good idea. EX: Do you know what a taper-friendly
band is? - sounds easy, but the concept may be foriegn to some
good-willing people just looking for good music.
But a quiz assumes that people haven't read the etree FAQs.

How about a User-Agreement? This would make our point (and our rules) a
little more clearer, and maybe people would take them seriously.
The 'user agreement' could explain the difference between etree's mailing
lists and the Tapers Database. You can find almost any band in there.
(not to mention any other format not .shn). This could go into the
'user-agreement'.

Not only is this discussion in the name of our integrity and future, but
also in the name not having to go through this everytime people post ISOs
for the unfriendly bands. The moderaters probably have better things to
do.
As far as filters, I don't know much about them, but they sound good too.
Maybe a filter that would automatically kick someone off? This may sound
draconian, but I think it would work. How hard is it to sign up again?
And like ghost says, perhaps read the FAQs.
                                                                     My
WOB is closed (except for one digerster- send proof). I'll end up
contacting everyone who emailed me tomorrow with the info.

I fear some people might clench up and percieve clenchedness on my part,
so email me off-list if you want. I'm only emailing etrade this since the
discussion originated here.
                                                                    Dan
MacNeill
