Dan, I'm not exactly sure what the issue is or why you are so worried about the etree community. Obviously this discussion began over on etrade and has migrated its way over to etree. It struck a cord so I thought I would respond.

The discussion of the distribution of "illicit" music is not illegal. sure a site-op might be brought down for having some taper-unfriendly material but they can't shut down a mailing list because joe blow was serving a Floyd show. Etree is mainly two things: A. a mailing list B. a database Even a database of "illegal music" can't be shut down. All etree servers are completely independent. All traders are independent. Do you really think Roger Waters can stop all this? I scoff...( a friendly scoff mind you):-) There is no need to filter the lists or make people agree to some oath or anything similar. If people screw up then scold 'em and move on. There's Music to be Traded Damnit!
