serve on one pc and map drives from other computers to
become available for download? any info would be
great!

A very good question... and you will be happy to know the answer is yes.

Your first step is getting those 2 PC's to talk to each other. There are
many different ways to accomplish this task. Are the two computers on
the same network? Are they networked at all? Hehe.. lets start from
the beginning. If you want to hardwire the two PC's together you will
need a hub, preferably a switch, don't go less than 100 MB, and gigabit
is nice if you can afford it. Another great way to network PC's
together if they are close, even if they aren't actually, is using
802.11 wireless networking. Since you are only sharing the files via
ftp and not copying huge volumes of music from one pc to the other, this
may be a great solution for you. Wireless is currently 11 MB, but 50 MB
802.11b is coming very soon!

Anyway, I digress... After you have gotten file sharing setup between
the two PC's and you can see files in the Network Places folder in
windows, there is one more step most FTP servers will need before you
can share. You will need to map the drive... as most FTP programs I've
seen will NOT connect to a Windows real name convention... I.E. -

In order to map a drive in Windows, you must right click a shared folder
within the Network Places folder. Select map network drive, and pick a
drive letter. Then don't forget to make sure the reconnect at login
button is selected. Then all you need to do is set up your ftp server
to share that drive as you would any other local resource.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
