As long as the md5 file and the files being checked are in the same
directory, then the check should work fine on a read-only disc (CD) or R-W
(HD).  Of course, the filenames in the md5 file should match those of the
files.

That should not be necessary and is just a waste of time.  After I burn SHN
archives to disc, I ALWAYs check the md5 directly from the disc to be sure
my discs are good.
