My two cents on the "PC CDRs unreadable on a Mac" discussion is I was not able to read
discs written and closed using DIRECTCD unless I had the shareware extension "Joliet
File Access" installed. Then it mounted fine. (I'm running 8.6 on a PM9500).

As far as sound manipulation on a Mac, you obviously need Shorten, Quicktime, and some
CD burner software (I use Toast 5.0.2). I use SndSampler for all my editing, it's
nagware, so it is full-featured with no expiration, but I found it well worth the $30
fee. Also indispensible is the freeware SoundApp, which is a general purpose sound
file convertor.

All these apps can be found at www.versiontracker.com

Sorry if this is old news (or irrelevant) to most of you, but hopefully someone will
find my experience useful.
