I hope not to receive flames if this is offtopic, but this seems to be a place where I could get some information about my question.
I have some music on minidiscs, and would like to get them on computer. Naturally with as little generational/transfer loss as possible. The soundcard I'd be using is SB Live 1024 value. I've heard that the hardware resampling with this card is sub-par (from 48 to 44,1 kHz) but it's the only card I can use. I am using CoolEdit2k as the editing software. I haven't checked the web yet (punish me for that) so if I'd get some good URLs from you in-the-know, that'd be helpful.
