Hey all- I'm having amazing trouble setting up an FTP server. I'm trying to use Serv-U. First I started from the lan side of my network using the router to direct port 20-21 to the box with Serv-U on it. Serv-U worked pretty nicely on the lan side, other computers were able to log in and transfer files just like it should.
However, I couldn't get to the net. So I took the router out of the equation and direct wired the computer to the modem. After rebooting everything and changing the IP settings on Serv-U, it still doesn't work. When people try to connect, it time-outs. I don't get anything on the log. One of my friends that was helping thinks that my ISP is blocking me. He thinks that the masquerading and forwarding are filtering out FTP attempts. Does this sound right? Does anyone else has Charter and an FTP account? Any help would certainly be appreciated.
