Make sure you are using version 3.5c.  The earlier 3.5 releases had a lot of
problems.  My version is 3.5a, so when I load that, I have to also load the
upgrade file which brings it up to 3.5c.  The upgrade file was available for
free on adaptec's (now roxio, I suppose) website.  I don't know if its still
there.  If you need it, I can probably get a copy to you.  I wouldn't think
there would be anything wrong with doing that, since adaptec gave it away in
the first place, and you have to have a legit copy of an earlier release in
order to use it.

I use version 5 and it works well. I've been using it for data CDs and I
use Feurio and EAC for audio CDs.

Have you tried the test burn? Also, I've found that Kodak (non-gold) CDs
are bogus. I had some that wrote SHN that did not pass the MD5. Maybe the
CDs you are using are no good or not compatible?
