I'd recommend checking in with local libraries--public, school, university, church, etc.--to see if they have any card catalogs in their basements. I have several, and I'm one seriously organized shn-er. The width of a drawer is perfect for cds. The height isn't.
I have modified the drawers thus: cut the bottom out of a drawer, attach that drawer to the one below it so they pull out together, put the discs upright in the bottom one, on a platform (because two drawers are too tall). It requires some work, but it looks very good--can't tell from the outside that they're modified, and a nice piece of antique oak furniture is always good. And you don't end up with storage things that themselves have to be stored (ie binders, wallets, spindles, etc.). I use the plastic sleeves from American Digital. They're a few cents each, they're made for CD's, they don't require rubber bands or folding, and they don't take up extra room. I've never liked the case logic style sleeves, but I love these. Played around with paper and with tyvek sleeves, but don't like them. The origami cd sleeves (search the archives) also work really well.
