I've heard (and read) that alcohol solvent used in permanent markers (ie
sharpies) can eat through the protective top coat of cdr, thereby destroying
them.
On one hand, I take this to heart and don't writing on my discs anymore. I
writing on the inner hub and for shns I give the discs a volume number and
archive them in MS Access. On the other hand, I have some shn discs that are
over 3 years old and they still copy and extract fine.

Since there are other ways of doing it, I would avoid writing on the disc
surface.

Subject: [etree] sharpies..please read!

etree,

Hey all. I have always used a fine tip sharpie to
label my cd-r's that I have my shns archived on. Can
this in any way damage the cd's? How do you label
your shows? Any feedback is much appreciated.

Peace
Adam
