I have been using the STI 80 media for some time now due to it's compatibility with my Sony DVD C650D player. These are the only CDRs I've found that work in this player. EAC IDs these as TYPE 8 (Phtalocyanine(Cyanine:Gold/Green. They sound great in all of my euipment and never a coaster. Today I purchased what I thought was STI/Princo 74 (after rebate, $15 for 200) and found that these are actually CMC 80. EAC IDs these as TYPE 0 (Azo/Cyanine:Blue/Green. Not only do they not work in the Sony, but they sound lousy in other equipment (faint scratchiness).
Luckily, STI is fairly close by in Fremont,Ca. I called and they will exchange them for the Princos next time I'm in their neighborhood.
