DAO means that the laser never turns off during a burn. TAO means that the
laser does stop and start during burning. DAO does not necessarily mean "no
gaps," and Nero is a case in point.

To burn without gaps in Nero, you must select DAO, but you also must select the
tracks in your burning project, and select 0 for gaps. You can do this
individually by right clicking each song, and entering "0" where indicated for
pauses, or you can select all of the tracks, right-click, and set 0 once to
cover each track. You'll get an error message telling you that track 1 must
have a two second gap. This is OK, because you won't hear a gap before the
first song.
