+ that looks ok for bands currently around and touring, but
+ furthur's got folks not on btat's list ; Willie Nelson, Dire
+ Straits that I've sent out to folks on etree and other lists,
+ I mean hey what about the Beatles? Do we trade until someone
+ says no or do we not trade until someone says yes? I got
+ curious a few weeks back and e-mailed Willie's official site
+ with no response. Obviously these are just examples, but
+ what does everyone think we should do about the gray area?

Historically, etree.org's position has always been to not trade material
unless it was known to be OK. This is a slightly different approach
than Furthur uses. From http://etree.org/legal.html:

"There will always be performers whose views on taping and trading are
unknown, or unclear. If you would like to trade music by such a
performer, it is up to you to demonstrate to the Server Team that the
person or band at issue does indeed allow trading. In other words, if
you offer to trade music by someone who is questionable, we will ask you
to refrain from doing so -- until you can show us that it is OK."
