Is it possible to pass in a command to run a program at bootup, or
to pass in an option to one of the init scripts, specifically the
network script?

<STORY>

With my laptop, I have it configured to connect to my network at
home, and I have a script that I run that can swap out all the
config files and put in new ones for when I bring the laptop to work
and want to connect to their network. But I have to run the
config-swapping script and then reboot [1]. I'd like to be able to
somehow pass in an option to tell it which network scripts I'd like
to run, with the home network being the default.

</STORY>

Is this possible?

[1] I'm not quite sure if I have to reboot totally, maybe I could
just stop and start a few of the init scripts after swapping the
config files.  (?)
