Though I am German I am not too much of a Hefeweizen type - of course, I 
DO MISS the good Lager style beers. BTW, when I left Germany there was no 
Dunkel Hefeweizen, as far as I know (maybe it exists now ... the 
'Reinheitsgebot' got in the way of the European Market, and, for sure, 
the WTO wouldn't approve it either -- one of the blessings of free 
trade!).
>From my personal experience, its the type of yeast together with the 
style of fermentation that makes the difference between the European and 
the American style beer (I have an interesting article about this; if I 
can find it I'll bring it tonight) ................. Horst.

BTW, on the 'organically grown' issue I thoroughly enjoyed Ed Craig's 
reference to Open Source !
