Please be careful if you write your own modlines and X .conf files from xvidtune. If you hose it up, you can fry hardware like monitors and graphics cards. Not saying that you shouldn't do it (on the contrary, it's recommended), just be careful and double-check your editing before you commit it to working. Also, the ctrl+alt+backspace keycombi will exit from the windowmanager ungracefully but works as a "panic" feature if the display comes up all scrambled (like the default video mode is incompatible for your hardware) or for some reason you crash the window manager but the display is still going (how you do this? I don't know, but ask my son--he seems to do it every once in a while. I think he tries to run too many xroaches and overloads the graphics card. He also is famous for typing random ctrl-key combies with unpredictable and often unrepeatable results). --rybolov > If you want to try using the extension, run "xvidtune" - it gives you a > GUI to access the extension. > -- Michael J.
