Dobrij Den-- If you are nice enough to come over on Saturday to help me move, please do yourself a favor and call first. My wife thinks that we will get everything moved today, but I remain skeptical. Home phone: 726-1561 Handi (that's Cellular to you non-Euro's) 520-9603 I dropped off the WhitePapers and Lecture notes for SGI Linux University at the library (Stan's). They are in a light-blue SGI folder. Feel free to peruse. I was preparing to write a review of the event, but I am a little busy right now. Here's the deal: "Irix is not dead", but SGI is throwing all of its R&D and money into developing Linux. They are banking on porting everything to the IA64 chip so that when it's released, they already have working systems. To that end, they are porting GCC and GDB and other programming tools. They are also releasing as much as they can of the GL (MESA) stuff to help development for graphics. This is a big plus for X servers and graphics accelleration. SGI is porting XFS to Linux. It's a journaling filesystem, so it doesn't need a fsck, and a full recovery of a HD takes less that 1 second because it only checks the files that were in use. All this is theoretically online, too at www.linuxu.org, but the link is dead, and I can't seem to find it. It might not be up yet. Anyway, have to go move. Poka, do skorogo vstrechi, uvidimsya, do'dyom do Berlina, nasa tsel' kommunism. --rybolov -- Michael J. Smith [EMAIL PROTECTED] 4052 Southway Loop, Springfield OR 97478 (541) 726-1561
