You are probably trying to mount a DOS formatted floppy. I don't remember the exact syntax for mounting a DOS floppy (It'll be in any good Linux book), but it is something like "mount -t vfat /dev/fd0".
I'm sure someone here will correct the syntax, but I'd bet that's the issue. (Once mounted, you can format it with the Linux file system)

Subject: Newbie Question:Floppy Drives

Greetings all,
I've got another newbie question I hope someone can help me with.  What I'm trying to do is to mount a floppy disk.  When I've tried, I gotten many different responses including:
can't find /dev/fd0, only root can do that, something about having "too many" devices mounted and something about a "bad super block".  I've tried variations of the following:
mount  /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy with no success.
Does anyone have any suggestions??  I REALLY need to transfer some .gif's and .jpg's from my windows box to this one.

BTW, if it helps I'm using RH 6.1 (and so far I'm real happy with it!)
