Ok,
some of you saw on Thursday the Dorio terminal I got. Ok I got it hooked up
to my computer but it isn't talking. I found some things to do in a book but
it doesn't seem to help. I believe the comm port is comm1 IRQ4and it should be
ttyS2. My modem is comm2 at ttyS1 IRQ3. I'm running SuSE. The terminal is a
Dorio 20.
If your asking why have a terminal. Why not. I know it can be done.
#1
/etc/gettydefs add this
#9600 bps connection to a terminal
T9600# B9600 CS8 CLOCAL #B9600 SANE ISTRIP CLOCAL #@S login:
#T9600
I did this. Could someone explain this?
#2
/etc/inittab add this
S2:235:respawn:/sbin/getty ttyS2 T9600 vt100
Ok I read the man page for inittab. I got S2 and 235 meaning run in 2 3 and 5
init. respawn meaning to startup if stops. Ok I looked in /sbin and there is
no getty there is an agetty should I use this instead.
#3
Login as root
init q
I bought a null modem cable or so it says from fred meyer. I'm half tempted to
check the pinouts on the cable.
Any suggestions. I've done searches on Linux Dorio and read most of the how to
text terminals and serial how to's. I want to get it going it running and
have fun.
Thanks
Tim
