The distribution is unimportant. I don't flog others' choices. I
like SuSe because I can figure it out easily. And I'm used to it. When I
was learning to install Linux, I started with Slackware, and then bought
Red Hat 4.x. I had trouble with Red Hat because things were in
"non-standard" locations, so when I asked my friend James for help, we had
a heck of a time finding parts of the system. So I went to SuSe and have
been there ever since.

I have tried other distributions. In fact, I have Turbolinux 4.0
cluster server up and running on a 486dx-50 machine right now, and am
configuring it to see how hard it is for relative newbies like me to set up
ip masq, etc. I tried installing Turbolinux Workstation 6.0 and Turbolinux
Server 6.0, but the boot disk made with rawrite would not boot for either
distribution. The boot disk made with rawrite for Turbolinux Cluster Server
4.0 booted fine (same floppy, same machine). I also tried Corel's first
graphical install system, but could not get it to install, and had similar
problems with Mandrake 7.0. But I use pretty non-standard hardware, and the
newer distributions have problems with that EXCEPT SUSE (and potentially
Turbo Cluster).

But Tom's Root Boot saved my bacon. THANKS AGAIN, Ralph!
