I could not get Turbolinux Workstation or Server to boot. Made the
requisite floppies, but kept getting "boot failure". No mention whether the
problem was that I am using a 486dx-50.

I DID manage to get Turbolinux Cluster Server 4.0 to install (using the
same procedures that failed to work earlier on the other two). It seemed to
install correctly, but when I was tweaking XF86, I had a conflict trying to
install the driver for an ATI Mach8 card. It kept telling me that there was
a conflict with another XF86 package, but I could not uninstall the RPM for
the offending package.

Suse 6.x was easier to install and understand for me.

Not until I can get all newer versions to work.

Yup, but I have an open mind.

33% success.

It doesn't work (except for the cluster version). I'd love to try
workstation and server 6.0, but like I said, it won't even boot.
