Remember ArsDigita? In the news recently for offering a free
college education, soon to offer a free university or something.
Their charity projects are funded by the success of arsdigita.com
which is constantly hiring. They're big into open source development
and "world-improvement" philosophy (I liked http://www.scorecard.org,
one of their projects).

Anyway, I contacted the guy in charge of hiring for tech jobs and
he said they are big into opening remote offices if they can find
enough qualified people in an area. They've got a series of
tests/exercises someone can go through remotely assuming they have
some home networking, system administration, code hacking experience.
It's all on their website at www.arsdigita.com - I'm going to go
through it myself for fun. Let me know if anyone else takes a stab
at this and then I could write him back to see if he was serious.
Evidently their salaries are up to six figures with stock options.
