Biography
Shane speaks regularly on network management and business topics at
international user group and industry events. Shane's recent
focus is on leveraging Open Source tools in network management
and building the Open Source developer community at OpenNMS.org.
Received a M.S. degree in Applied Computer Science from Illinois State
University in 1998. Began his IT career in data processing with
the US Census Bureau in 1989. Shane moved on to work in network
support with Illinois State University and in network design and
network management automation with State Farm Insurance.
While at State Farm, Shane designed and deployed the network and
systems management solutions for the largest private network in
the world, including over 17,000 routers and over 20,000 NT &
Unix servers. Shane was an avid follower of the Bluebird
project since its inception, and joined OpenNMS.org in March 2000.
Shane is a certified OpenView consultant and has created and
