Having a strange problem with a relatively new linux box that
has Mandrake 7.0 on it. I was on another computer and then
I heard something that sounded like the hard drive spinning.
I switched over to it, my Xserver wasn't responding. I
ctrl-alt-backspaced, got out, and saw a bunch of messages
spin by that were minor security warnings having to do with
the apache server I had just unpacked and installed (some of
the files come owned by a uid that aren't on my server, which
is no big deal; a known issue).

However I also saw a security warning:

Security Warning: There is modifications for port listening on your machine:
- Opened ports : tcp 0 0 *:www *:* LISTEN 25420/httpd

What's that mean?

I immediately rebooted. Now I can't telnet to it (or even to
127.0.0.1 from it), but that problem might have existed before.
Curiously, killall -HUP inetd said that inetd didn't have a process
to begin with, though. Had to start it manually.

Is this just a comedy of my own errors or was I hacked? This is a
pretty fresh installation of Mandrake. All I did was remove the
packaged apache and reinstall a fresher version from a tar file.
