I am a MS windows refugee I bought a boxed Red Hat
linux two years ago and unsuccessfully tried to
install it on a series of junkie Pentiums with cd roms
which would not mount in Linux. My son has now
allowed me to install Red Hat on a 1.5 gig partition
on his Compaq Presario 2100. The instillation went
fine but I the Xfree86 version from the cd will not
support the video display. OK so I found Xfree86 3.3.6
which has the card namely a Cyrix Media GX which I can
download from the net on my computer. The Compaq
Presario is a wierd little computer with the sound
card modem and vidio card hardwired into the mother
board. It has a built in loud amp and speakers. It
is not hooked up to a phone and is currently used
exclusively for video games. So how can I download to
the version onto a zip disc and install it on the
linux side of the partition. I do not know jack about
Linux. I can if necessary bring the Compaq and config
it to the internet with the dos side and download to
the hardrive on the dos partition but I have no idea
how to get Netscape running without a graphic Linux
interface Xwindows. What to do? I am
[EMAIL PROTECTED] I will try to make the Linux
meeting in October I will bring my computer.
