Thursday Sept 28,2000
There were about 17 people. Some new people.
There were 3-4 computers being worked on.
Seth gave a demonstration of Debian. He showed off Debian's apt-get
command and other good things linux can do.
I like the idea, Seth gave a little presentation on Debian. It would be
nice to have some presentations each week on a subject. I'm new to Gnome
and would like to learn on how to change some of the configuration and
adding CD's and such to the Desktop. If your good at a particular subject
like sendmail or any other topics I know there are some of us would like
to learn. I think we will have a computer there to give a
presentation. If you post on the list you'd like to give a presentation I
don't think any one of us would object. Found a cool application show it
off by showing us what it can do.
Seth and Paul brought some Debian (Potato) and there were some copies
burnt. Hopefully they will have the other two CD's next week. There were
a couple of Mandrake CD's burnt.
I don't know we have a celebrity in our midst. The author of Doom
hockey. And his name is Seth. Ask him about Doom hockey.
I brought my system in and installed Debian on it and it's working great.
We talked about BattleBot's for a short time. I finally saw a commercial
on one of the shows. Boy does it look fun.
Seth collected some e-mail address of people who come to the meetings but
weren't on the mailing list. Jamie, probably already has them on the
list.
Stan is back. It's great to have him back. Randolph was keeping him
company since most of us were in the other room.
Mathew showed up for a short time. Almost didn't recognize him. He got
his hair cut. Looked good.
I saw a full page advertisement for the NIC machine. A pc without the
hard drive for $199 and it runs linux.

It's great for schools, libraries, and any place which need public
internet access.
Hope to see you all there this thursday. Anything I left out feel free to
add to this.
