Hmm, don't have sndconfig (I did on mandrake, but not debian). Nothing in apt-cache.
I even looked to download it. On the way there I found some people were talking about
stuff like:
modprobe <sndcard here> irq=5 dma=1....
My module didn't like that, no options for manual settings.

I've spent the past couple hours downloading and tinkering with Alsa, which I had to
use on my last system. My sound card is not in the distribution package, however it
is on the CVS tree.

(Concurrent Versions System, a CVS server sits somewhere and allows various developers
to insert new versions of code in to the server for a particular project. The CVS
server logs who, when and why changes occurred. It also allows for non developers to
check in the cvs tree and download the current 'version'. One can also update it as
often as one wants. CVS is still new to me, but ALSA had a page with the commands I
needed to download the cutting edge alsa code.)

I was unable to compile mpg123 with alsa support. However I just loaded the oss
compatibility module. I'm now able to multitask with sound!!

However, I'm not yet able to mix several sounds at once. I am able to do this on my
home system(not using alsa, just sndconfig on mandrake), anyone know how I can do
this, or what is limitting me? When I start up another mpg123 or another PCM/Wave out
player it just sits there waiting for the dsp.

Thanks Mike!
