Nate,
The file is /etc/lilo.conf, not /ect/lilo.cfg.
Also, try a different editor than 'edit', such as pico. Or if you are in xwindows, try
gnp, xedit, gedit.
This will give you a listing of text editors:
apropos edit |grep text
Once you are there, follow Pat and Bob's instructions to edit lilo.conf.
As for the package stuff:
"Setting up Kchart (2.0.1-1) ..
Errors were encountered while prcessing:
gsfonts-x11
ghex"
Did you do the 'dpkg --pending --configure' several times? Try 'dpkg -P gsfonts-x11'
and 'dpkg -P ghex'
This will remove the package and purge all config files.
Then to reinstall them:
apt-get install gsfonts-x11 ghex
When you go through a debian install, it will prompt you for 'advanced' package
selection which leads to dselect, or 'simple' package selection with leads to tasksel.
Choose simple.
If you think you are missing packages, don't run dselect. Instead run tasksel.
Select the ones you want, and it will install them. After the system is installed,
you'll use apt-get to acquire missing programs.
All of this stuff must be done as root.
