I have been wanting to build / crash test a dual cpu system for some time,
and am about to make my move.. anybody have a source of dual cpu
motherboards that they wish to donate / sell ? with or without cpus?
socket 7, pentium pro or what ever is available ( I would like to use up the
few p166 chips I have)
how about any war stories with anyone whom has had experience with dual cpu
computers.. seems that aside from the motherboard / cpu availablity, the
ease of acquiring older ram ( 30/ 72 pin ram sets) is a factor to be
weighed, in the putting it all together phase..
any help at all would be appreciated, especially advice..
for anyone with Pentium pro systems, there is an upgrade from evergreen,
that absolutely BLOWS away the old Intel chip, it seems that they have
Celeron based plug in upgrade, that breaths Very fast new life into those
older systems ( from 493 mips, to 1496 mips.. sort of like adding nitrous
and a blower at the same time.. if anyone upgrades, will you consider
selling to me the replaced cpu?) The only gotcha in this news, is that bios
of the motherboard is critical, only certain ones are able to support the
upgrade..
for further info, get the latest issue of poptronics, jan 2001, pg 12, or go
to http://www.evergreennow.com/Products/socket8up.asp
while on the subject of exotics, anyone have experience with exotic cooling
systems? like the few refrigeration systems out there, or the peltier
crystal modules ? these seem to be excellent for over clocking.
thanks for everyones help!
the hardware guy,
frederick
