Thursday's meeting December 14, 2000 At the user's group, there were about 20 people. There were 3 computers being worked on. Chris Allen was there with 2 hand held keyboards. One is called the Twiddler and the newer one he had was the Twiddler 2. Chris said the Twiddler 2 has Macros on the unit itself. The unit fits in the palm of your hand. It would take some time to learn but one could do it in a weekend. He gave me some links for those of you who would be interested. http://www.handykey.com If you take a look at the picture link, you can see what it looks like. http://wearables.blu.org He also told us about wearable computer display system. They are very expensive ($5000). http://www.microopticalcorp.com Rob and Joe were talking (dreaming) about a Dual Duron motherboard. Seth informed me that Paul did buy him a colored stylus. Ken was working on his machine. He installed Debian on it. He hears us extolling the virtues of Debian and wanted to know why. Stan came over and was about to leave. Rob and I went over and I'm glad I did. Stan showed us this program called Broadcast 2000. It's a non linear audio and video editor for Linux. It can edit 1920x1080 video and 24 bit sound and is professional quality. I was impressed. http://heroine.linuxave.net/bcast2000.html We tried an mpg4 player to get it going. http://xmps.sourceforge.net/ Stan was able to play a DVD with Xmovie. This is the same site for Broadcast 200. So you can watch your DVD on your Linux Box. http://heroines.sourceforge.net/xmovie.html Check out mpg2 also. http://heroinewarrior.com/mpeg2movie.html So with Gimp, Broadcast 2000 and StarOffice. we have some pretty impressive and compelling reasons to use Linux. Stan has a web page and would like everyone to visit it. http://www.pc-train.net He said we should take advantage of the message board. He would like us to use it. So If you have any cool program or how to do something, put it on the message board. See you at the meeting. Tim
