I don't want to discourage you from switching to Debian, but I've
duplicated the Mandrake kernel. Mandrake is full of patches, and
I had a terrible fear of tracking down missing functionality for
months after switching to a Linux-based kernel.
If you're interested, I'll try to write up how to do it.
