I have a low-level formatter that is manufacturer independent.... I still LL
drives on occasion but only as a last resort...

I thought low level formatting wasn't necessary any more with modern IDE
hard drives? I remember that we used to have to run a DEBUG script to do
that back in the olden days (1980's). Wouldn't the low level formatter be
drive and manufacturer dependent?
