I use bc all the time.  (bc and dc are calculators.  dc uses reverse
Polish notation like an HP calculator; bc is infix notation like
a Casio calculator).

But I'd switch in a minute if I knew of a better calculator.  My ideal
calculator would recognize C style hex and octal numbers and print
results in all three radices as well as a floating point
approximation.

Any suggestions?
