Seems to me the Linux box should be controlling shares, not something
with the well know BO virus.

Same with Samba, plus a bit more password & share level security.

Yup. I have an HP lj2p on a linux box and an HP dj842c on a windoze box,
both on the lan. Both are transparent to either OS and the print quality
is great no matter which type of client is printing. I'm not using 'cups'.
Everything is hokey dokey, except for some strange reason, the 842c
is offline a whole lot more than the lj2p (the lj2p is never offline, unless
it's out of paper). Go figure.
