I am not so sure that we are that far behiend. Last summer a man stopped
by the place I was working at here in Eugene and was asking about our need
for broadband and stuff like that. Of course I was interested in why he
wanted such information, and it turns out that his company was looking at
putting a system like this in our area (I do not remember if it was the
same company). He said that a system like this would not be for
residential use though because it would be quite costly.
