At the risk of sounding like a heretic....

Why not just run the Linux apps where they belong and use a nice win32
terminal (like QVT)
to watch over things or better yet, use VNC.

Typically, I telnet over to the Linux box with QVT and get things going,
set permissions, etc..
Then I start vncserver and bail on the telnet session once all is how I
like. Then I start vncviewer
on the windoze box, start kde2 or gnome and have my fun with NO lockups,
crashes, burps or
blue screens of death on either box.

I have speakers in the computer lab for the Linux boxes, so sounds abound
and can run everything,
I mean every app under the sun, with no worries. Burn CD's, watch seti,
trick the napster court orders...
you name it. And, if lousy winblowz decides to puke, nothing gets burned on
the Linux box except for
maybe an Xvnc session or some latent kde2 proc.
