The tour today up at the Beaverton Campus showed their new Numu-Q servers... Intel quads (4x PIII/Xeon) on their own IQ bus... I think it's 1 Gbps. They run 390, win2k, and linux binaries very well, and the management and monitoring software is quite nice!! Kudos to IBM! The system they showed had two quads, eight processors, and I was told it sold for "under $100,000" but that whomever signed the bottom line would be the one to discuss that ; ) I'm pleased that IBM chose to do such things here in Oregon. To those who missed out: I think they'll be doing a Fair with PSU (maybe OSU and UO too) in the near future. G'day! ben PS - I'm sure many folks from cs/open have interesting stories too; is anyone opposed to cross-posting these? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- "slide" to www.euglug.org in lake'ch, my kin... 4 Ix Finally, I (this text) would be delighted to be included, in whole or in part, in your next discussion of self-reference.
