I am a *BSD user, so maybe my opinion is slightly less informed than others
concerning the Linux point of view, but I see it like this: Even if certain
distributions "sell out" or are from *shiver* corporate sources, there will
always be distros that "keep it real". Debian and Slackware come to mind,
but I am sure there are others you could name.
People said the same thing about BSDi buying/merging with Walnut Creek, but
since then it has been business as usual and I don't hear any more
complaining. FreeBSD doesn't seem to have suffered any. However, BSDi is a
company founded by True Believers from BSD's past, maybe this doesn't apply.
AOL and others aren't as much into peace and love as they are into their
bottom line...
