DragonSinger, I'm posting this to euglug as well, because I think it should go there. I have played with freebsd a little bit. I have both freebsd and debian on my laptop. I've only used freebsd for a few days, and there are some subtle things that I like about it. However, the debian package management is so slick, freebsd's doesn't compare (although it is good). To me it's worth it to use debian over any benefits of freebsd, just for the packagemanegment. Redhat's packagemanagment is better than microsofts. That's all I'll say about that. If you want to try another Opensource OS, try debian. Some things aren't automatically configured for you, meaning more work, yet more freedom. It's both a curse to the beginner, and a blessing to the long time user. If debian made freebsd, I'd probably use it instead of linux, but they don't, so I'm not. Microsoft has a dream! Microsoft.net. Yet debian's package manegement is here today, and is far superior to anything microsoft will come up with. And MS won't have it here until atleast 2002, likely 2003 or 4.
