Look again at jabber.org
The nice thing about Jabber IS it's ability to use a local server. All ICQ
clients work with it quite well. Win.x clients can be configured to
use this local server as well.
There are cool java clients for Yahoo, AIM and ICQ, but so
far only the ICQ clients have local server support.
Personally, I use LICQ and don't find it to be "crap".
Seems to me the most vital part of corporate security
with IM's is content sent & received, not any breech
of network issues.
