I definitely agree with you on the microsoft bashing.
Your thinking on presentations parallels mine, though i do think we should
aim for a MIX of levels, i know that when i was a complete newbie it was
sometimes presentations that were pitched at much higher level than i was
ready for that made me aware of blind spots and interesting things that i
could productively study on my own.
What about the possibility of a EUGLUG linux cheat sheet/reference card
with basic bash commands and faqs of life with linux??
