It wasn't console-scrolling I was after, it was interactivity...
I didn't realize (still don't know really) if apt-get is "interactive";
I liken it to using rpm from the command-line
where I see dselect as more of a MandrakeUpdate program,
which manages what tree you pick from and cascades through dependencies
when you pick a nice high-level fruit :)
