I dont remember any such post to the list. Most soundcards work under linux. 
There are several Sound drivers available for many cards (professional and 
free). I think Ive gotten all my sound cards (atleast a dozen) work with 
linux if properly configured. 
I have a couple sb16(and many generic), and An Ensonic AudioPCI (which is now 
a SoundBlasterPCI (ensonic sold to sb) 
Ive used sndconfig with redhat (not my computer..) and gotten sb cards 
working... it usually is pretty quick and easy. 

What doesnt work with linux is netzero!
