It is this Saturday (June 16th) in Ashland. Falcon Northwest, manufacturer of high-end gaming PC's, is investigating the usage of Linux as a viable gaming platform and has teamed with the Rogue Penguins Linux Users Group. We will meet for a � day or so to install, configure and test various Linux distributions and games on some of today's hottest hardware. Depending on the success of the project, follow up meetings may be scheduled. Hardware will be provided by Falcon Northwest and will include : AMD Dual Palomino (Athlon 4) processor platform AMD Thunderbird DDR platform Nvidia Geforce 2 and Geforce 3 video hardware Promise IDE RAID configurations up to 120 GB Among the project items to be covered: Choosing a distribution Installation, configuration and driver support Game installation Benchmarking High-speed and dial-up internet configuration We are encouraging all Linux hobbyists and users to attend, along with others interested in investigating Linux for the first time. In addition, those with a passion for the fastest PC hardware will get their fill. This will be an open-forum project - all ideas and input will be appreciated.
