There were some change ups from 2.2 systems to 2.4 systems concerning modules at least
with Debian boxen. Where the old modutils would look for a specific directory
structure like /lib/modules/2.2.19pre21/block , net, cdrom, ipv4, and so on. The newer
2.4 systems (Woody, Sid) look for modules in a different directory layout...
/lib/modules/2.4.5/kernel/drivers/block, net, cdrom ... Look in your /lib/modules
directory and check it out.
I have 2.2.19pre21 and 2.4.5 the 2.2 is from the base install and the 2.4 is from a
kernel compile... a Debian Potato box will not find the 2.4 modules due to an older
modutils package that looks for modules in the old dir structure etc. This may be why
you can not locate modules. Upgrade your modutils or symlink 2.4 modules in 2.2 dir
stucture fashion.
