I somehow broke gnome and still was able to use other window managers. I then got it back up and running. I used the source for ximian that mike put up a while back and I downloaded it. I like it. It's slick. I've found that nautalis sucks up cpu cycles though. It's nice to have thumbnails of all my stuff. I compared gtop with just plain top. I found gtop sucks cpu cycle's too, top is great for what I need. Getting back to my question. Since putting on ximian I can't configure sawfish. I go into settings and Sawfish window manager and then Apperance and it just sits there and suck up cpu cycles. Mike told me some command to use but this doesn't help. I don't know if it's a ximian problem or a sawfish problem. I also got KDE 2.? and some of the icon's on the bottom don't do anything. They look like the KDE sproket. The toolbox is a sproket. I haven't a clue on why this happened. Is there in debian to tell if what packages I might need to straigten out both these problems. My guess I need some more packages. Is there a website which says if you want ximian you should have these debs installed. If you want KDE you need these debs installed. Deb's are great but something isn't working. Maybe it's Operator Error. :-) I really like the Red Carpet in ximian. It looks great and it reminds me of deb's. The only problem is I've been getting not signed packages. Very nice Ximian is doing a great job. Tim
