All;
I would like to put in my two cents here:
I have dedicated my career to making the machines easier and more capable to use.
After all, most of my clients are people who could care less about the machines; they
simply need to get an answer to a complex problem or their work done. I am of the
opinionn that these peoples' motivation level has little to do with it.
Further, I think using a computer simply for the sake of using a computer is a waste
of time.
One of the reasons I love Linux so much is that it shows the best promise for letting
my users get their work done while at the same time satisfying my demand for a system
that is grounded in time-tested and proven principals for a reliable system. It also
avoids vendor lock; I am confident that no-one can force me to upgrade and that I can
modify the code to suit my company's needs.
Just to recap, my total goal is to fascilitate my co-workers ability to increase their
productivity and lower costs. Everything else is superfolous. If clustering Apple
IIe's turned out to be the best way to make that happen then that is exactly what I
will do.
