Help! My computer memory's being eaten up by a virus called EUG-LUG. Most of it's been Greek to me, a lowly potential Linux user. But now it's getting more interesting, if a bit off topic. The [EMAIL PROTECTED] list used to be good on the state of the world, but is now inhibernation, though I think still alive. Maybe we could revive it. Send the usual command to listproc@efn,org. Speaking of democracy, I just happen to have some ideas about how to revive that too, and they just happen to involve computers, and a lot of needed programming skills, which I lack, in case anyone here's interested. See "E-consensus" on my web site, http://www.efn.org/~danrob/ Meanwhile, back to the subject. I don't like GUIs, mice and icons. I thought if I had some simple programs like Lynx and Pine to run on Linux, where I could read and write messages offline, I could learn to use the rest of non-GUI Linux. Since Debian doesn't come with Pine, I tried to download it, using Lynx. It didn't specify a destination filename or directory. Later I couldn't find the file anywhere. Where might it be, or where will it be if I try again? Or do I need to specify the destination at the end of the DL? Further, on reading the literature, I saw nothing saying I could (or couldn't) use Pine on my dialup system, mostly offline, storing my messages locally, logging on only when I want to send a bunch. Can someone verify this? Or is there a non-GUI Linux alternative to Pine that will do this?
