You should probably do a checksum to make sure the download didn't
get corrupted.  As far as whether or not we trust you ... one should
always do a checksum test against the original author's/distributor's
published checksum(s).  The recent compromise of SourceForge is a 
good example of why one should not blindly trust third-party-distributed
software.
