I used to use jed a while back.  It's emacs like.  There Joe, but I
don't remember about that one.

I use vim, and you can highlight text with Shift-V arrows up/down.  To
copy just press 'y', paste press 'p'. Hey, you didn't say !VI(le|m)  :)
